Coffee Technician
The next phase of Coffi Lab’s expansion sees us launch our Roastery in Cardiff (CF3). We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated individual with experience in coffee technical engineering to be part of this journey. Our Coffee Technician will need to take good care of our roasting equipment as well as all the coffee equipment across our estate, reacting quickly to avoid any downtime in our busy Labs.
Due to the nature of this role, there is a need for travel and flexibility in working hours. Equipment issues may need to be addressed out of hours.
As our Coffee Technician you would be responsible for the following:
- Carrying out a broad range of coffee equipment repair and preventative maintenance tasks across our estate from fault finding to diagnosis, making sure all coffee equipment is in a good working order
- Completing QC checks on the equipment in all our Labs to ensure the coffee is being served to Coffi Lab standards.
- Adhere to Health and Safety procedures, undertaking risk assessments to ensure that it is safe to work, highlighting any risks
- Ensure that all tools and equipment supplied by the company are kept in good working order, reporting any faults, breakages or equipment failures daily
- Complete and review all necessary documentation as required
- Train store teams on how to maintain machines correctly including cleaning and basic maintenance
- Move kit around the estate when required and deliver coffee and ancillaries
Ideal candidates will have the following experience:
- Whilst training will be available, experience of technical work and maintenance of La Marzocco espresso machines is essential.
- A background in electrical mechanics would be advantageous.
- A full, clean driving licence is essential.
- Qualified with a PSSR licence would be an advantage.

- Be passionate about coffee. Our Coffee Technician must have an excellent understanding of coffee quality and associated equipment.
- Be a problem solver. Equipment can let us down. Our Coffee Technician needs to troubleshoot issues and find a solution that works.
- Be efficient. Our Coffee Technician must have a keen eye for detail, accuracy and consistency.
- Be motivated. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn and happy to get stuck in.
- Be proactive. The ability to work under pressure, manage time, and be able to effectively prioritise and delegate is crucial.
